It’s funny how when you’re young you want to grow up and be 18, 21 or 25 years old? Now that I’m 27 years old going on 28 on Feb. 18th, I sit back & think man, what was I in a rush for? This is not to say that I didn’t enjoy my younger years because I did, but the thought of wanting to be in a relationship, drink, go to clubs, move out, make my own decision which goes hand in hand with paying my own bills and so forth. Like really? What were we as young girls so in a rush to do? That time that we used to go against our parents will..
I’d like to address a few things in a letter…things like
Dear Younger Me, just wait on having a boyfriend
Dear Younger Me, just wait on having sex…
Dear Younger Me, just wait on God to handle it…
Dear Younger Me, just wait on growing up…
Dear Younger Me…pain doesn’t last always.
Dear Younger Me…thank God you chose LIFE because Jesus Christ planted a purpose within you that only you can deliver with your name on it!!!
I hope that there are other women out there that are willing to share a short letter to themselves here on this platform on what they wish they should/could have waited on. Or any advice you’re willing to give your younger YOU. If the younger YOU knew now back then & could of have a cheat sheet on urgency of trying to grow up too fast.
I, Ashley, have a duty here on this earth. That is to encourage, uplift, embrace and empower young girls and women. I hope that all walks of life can take something away from this campaign. Because at the end of the day it isn’t about me, but about you.
